Take a Vet to School Day
On Thursday, November 7, 2013, the Peninsula School’s grades 5-8 will be hosting their third annual “Take a Vet to School Day” beginning at 12:00pm. With the support of Time Warner Cable and the History Channel, we are able to have several area veterans come to our school and talk about their experiences as veterans and how their lives were impacted by their time in the Armed Forces. The program is open to the public at 12:00pm, and will last approximately 30 minutes. At that time, students will break off into small groups to talk in a smaller setting with a veteran. The seventh grade recently participated in the “Interview a Veteran” program at the Cole Museum and will be leaders among their peers for this event. The staff at the Peninsula School in addition to the Peninsula PTC, Young’s Market, Mc’s Market, Nautica Pub, Grindstone Smoked Seafood and the Winter Harbor Food Service have donated a luncheon for the participating veterans. Families are welcome to attend this event intended for middle school students from 12:00pm to 12:30pm.
